Mothers

I Am That Mother And Child

The heart of a child
So fragile and easily broken.
I am that child
With a fragile heart that was broken.

Most of my childhood was spent
In an atmosphere of turmoil.
A place where anger was violently vent,
Surroundings that cause a child to coil.

I tell you this not for sympathy nor sorrow,
Speaking only of love for the soul of another.
For her there would no longer be a tomorrow
Domestic violence would take away my Mother.

The soul of a child
So alone and deeply saddened.
I am that child
With a lonely soul that was saddened.

The heart of a mother
So tender and easily easily broken.
I am that mother
With a tender heart that was broken.

Most of my motherhood was spent
In quiet desparation
The deafening rage of silent torment,
The runaway separation.

I tell you this not for sympathy nor sorrow
Speaking only of love for the soul of another.
For him there will prayerfully be a tomorrow
In which an angel guides him back to his Mother.

The soul of a mother
So alone and deeply saddened.
I am that mother
With a lonely soul that was saddened.

The heart and soul of a mother and child
So intense and easily repaired.
I am that mother and child
With heart and soul intensely awaiting angelic repair.

This poem is dedicated to the memory of my Mother
Anna Mae Cox
And to the hopes and dreams I have for my son
William Robert Cox
And to my dear friend
Marcia
Who once told me she didn't know anyone personally
Who had suffered the cruelty of Domestic Violence...

I Believe with all my heart and soul that someday
I will reunite with my Mother in Heaven.
I also Believe with all my heart and soul that there is an
Angel watching over me and my son, and someday...

I know this is not a conventional Mother's Day poem.
But it is a poem from my heart about my experience as a
Mother and as a Daughter...

God Bless the Mothers and their Children.
